Today seemed to have less progress than other days. Mom is still doing well, but tomorrow will be my first day working with Mom without having Jon or Laurie there to help. Laurie spent a couple hours this morning scrubbing the natural gas grill that will stay with the house, and I am grateful for her willingness to do that. All of the cabinets in the living room are now empty, and Laurie, Mom, and I worked for a bit in Mom and Dad's room. My hope is to finish their room and the office tomorrow and to move on to upstairs on Wednesday.

| Before we get started on boxes, I thought I would share something fun (or at least I think it's fun) I stumbled across today. Jon says there is supposed to be another five generation picture with Susie as the baby, and I truly hope I come across that picture during this process. I am taking all of the pictures home with me to organize them and put some of them into albums for Mom and Dad, picture collages for Mom and Dad's wall, etc. I will then give the pictures back to Mom and Dad in a less overwhelming, more usable/consumable format so that Mom will be able to enjoy the pictures more fully and often. If anyone has any concerns about that, please let me know. Also, if someone else was already planning to do this, let me know. I'm not trying to step on toes (it's a natural gift of mine, no trying involved) ... just trying to help. |
BOX #22
| There are two of these. |
| This is a cardboard picture frame (5" x 7" maybe??). |
| This is a small magnet. |
| This is a very large map ... more than half of it is still rolled up in this picture. |
| Mom feels these two things should stay together. :) |
BOX #23
| This is a Nativity picture. |
| This is one of those very large family Bibles. However, it is not a Christoffersen Family Bible. There is nothing written in it. I have no idea where Mom and Dad got it, but ... if you want one for your family ... here you go. |
| This is a small table runner. I think it was probably made by Roberta, but that's just a guess. |
| I am certain there are pillow shams that match this queen-sized blanket, but I haven't found them yet. I think they might be in the white dresser, but I haven't cleaned that out yet. This was hanging in the back of Mom and Dad's closet. |
| This is a long, brown leather coat. It's been hanging in the back of Mom's closet for long enough that there was significant dust on the shoulders of the coat. It's still in good shape ... just too small for Mom to get closed. |
| Tag for the above leather coat. |
| A fur jacket with the same story as above ... been hanging in Mom's closet for long enough there was dust. This is also too small for Mom. She shared a couple different potential stories about the origin of this jacket: 1) it was a gift to her from Dad and 2) her uncle made it for her when she was a child/teenager. I have no idea what the real story is ... sorry. |
| There are two Nauvoo bricks available. A third brick is moving with them to their new place. |
THINGS OF NOTE:
(Note: Because of the nature of these specialty items, we didn't think they should be put into a box. Laurie has these at her house for safe-keeping. If you want any of them, you can contact Laurie to arrange delivery/shipment.)
The books below are books Dad does not want to bring with them, but they are potential family heirlooms. These were books that belonged to:
Presley Pace
David Pace
Ira C. Martin
The below cross-stitch ... anyone know who made this? Was it Mom? Also, anyone want to take possession of it?
